ABOUT MARCO PENNACCHIA

Born in Italy in 1995, Marco Pennacchia is an artist based in Melbourne, Australia. His practice draws inspiration from the visual heritage of the Italian Renaissance, combining classical realism with contemporary figurative painting.

Marco studied painting and sculpture at the Liceo Artistico Statale di Treviso, graduating in Sculptural Disciplines in 2014. Following his formal education, he continued to refine his practice through independent study, developing a strong focus on oil painting and the human figure.

After relocating to Australia in 2019, his work evolved through the experience of living between cultures, exploring themes of identity, memory, vulnerability, and human connection. Fabric and drapery have become recurring elements within his practice, serving both as visual subjects and symbolic devices that reveal and conceal aspects of the self.

Working across studio painting and large-scale murals, Marco combines traditional techniques with contemporary narratives, creating works that seek to balance technical precision with emotional resonance.
